A friend of mine told me about this guy- Jordu Schell. He’s a Sculpture/FX guru in California. He sculpts out of clay then uses them for various FX. He offers classes at a very reasonable price- 5 weeks for $350, but you’d have to be in CA to attend. If I ever get the opportunity, I’d LOVE to get over there and take a class from him! Check out his work and see for yourself! AMAZING!
The Chandler Merchant Square is holding a Flea Market and Antique Sale next Saturday, May 23 2009. Why is this important to us Arizona Halloween Enthusiasts? I came across this find while looking for some odds and ends for my Parlor in my Haunt. This place is HUGE! If you’re serious about themeing out your display, be sure to check this place out, and plan on spending a couple hours there easily! They have antique dolls, furniture, books, fixtures, you name it, they have it!
For those of you looking to add some realism to your display, you are certain to find something here. I went to check this place out, and was overwhelmed at everything these vendors had! Saturday May 23rd they’re holding a flea market in the parking lot, and a HUGE SALE on all the antique vendors inside. This is a great opportunity to pick up all those pieces you need for your display!
Personally, I’m going for the late 1800’s look and feel in my display. I need to be able to add in antique mirrors, pictures/frames, pieces of furniture, lanterns, fixtures, etc etc. I’ve already gone and scoped out some things I’d like to pick up next weekend at the sale priced. If anyone is interested in attending this with me, give me a shout and we’ll make it happen. I’ll see you there!

This is a piece that Mariah has been working on. She’s never sculpted before, but has quickly whipped this guy up! He’s not completed, but man, this is impressive! Read more about it in our forums.
And another view…
How cool is this? She’s done an amazing job- I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Topic: Creating a Pepper’s Ghost Scene!
Demos: Laser Vortex, Big Scream TV, Making Realistic Columns
This month we’ll be meeting at Vince’s Shop in the West Valley. He has TONS of space and tools to make anything we need! We can also make it very dark inside, which is perfect for creating a Pepper’s Ghost scene! We’ll video/project and play with different methods of creating a PG in a scene. This is a fairly simple, but extremely effective Special Effect that anyone can display in their haunt. We’ll also be doing demos of the Big Scream TV, and the Laser Vortex effects. Vince will be showing us the materials used to create realistic columns for our display.
Vince and his wife have volunteered to supply yummy Italian food! You might want to chip in with some side dishes, drinks, desserts, etc.
Please RSVP in the Forums so they know how much food to make! See you guys there!
Scene Shop access 1 block east of Central on Alvarado.
